It's My Duty

...Civic Duty that is.  I don't mind, in fact I'm glad it happened during good (though hot) weather rather than cold and rainy in the late fall/winter/early spring :-)  I just wish it had been at the George Allen Building rather than Frank Crowley, but that's just because it's easier to get to food places and in and out of downtown Dallas from the George Allen Building.  I'm glad I packed a lunch and snacks and a couple of books and a sweater ;-)  All essentials for the jury duty lottery wait....it's a lot of sitting and waiting around!

So, lucky me *begrudingly* I actually get picked for a jury on Tuesday.  It was late late before they came up with the final 12 list.  So once picked, we were given some instructions and then left with the rest of the folks getting off work, tobe back and get started with the trial in the morning, Wednesday.

This is my first time to actually make it on a jury.  A new experience for me and so far, pretty cool except for the long days.

Tuesday: I drove to the Forest Ln/Jupiter Rail Station and got on the Blue Line to get to downtown Dallas, exited the train at Pearl Station, walked over to the East Transfer Station and then took the 50 bus to the Lew Sterrett Crosswalk.

The "crosswalk" is at the bottom of the ramp/walkway that you use to go in and out of the Frank Crowley Building on the Commerce St side.  Easy Peasy :-)

Getting back home it was the 42 bus to the West Transit Center and then catch the Blue Line at the West End Station back to the Forest Ln/Jupiter Station.

Wednesday:  it was raining but it's a light on and off rain as I'm traveling around.  My guys wanted the Explorer to run around while I was at Jury Duty.  My oldest got up and dropped me off at the Downtown Garland Rail Station.  Back on the Blue Line to the West End Station and then a quick walk over to the West Transfer Center to catch the 42 bus to the "crosswalk".  Getting back was the same as yesterday...again easy easy and oh the characters you will see :D

Thursday:  It was a nice cool morning and I drove myself to the Downtown Garland Rail station and do the same thing as Wednesday morning.  Because of the timing that we were released on Thursday, the quickest way AWAY this time was the 50 bus and get off at the corner of Main and Lamar and a quick walk up Lamar to the West End Station to catch the Blue Line back to downtown Garland.

I'm getting very comfortable at this bus/rail thing....and it's really cool watching people (on of my FAVORITE pastimes) and the rhythm of all the buses and trains moving around.  Friday's another day and another trip to court....

Ugh, double ugh!! I hate jury duty. I have never been chosen--but just going is bad enough. Ugh!!!
